This is a pretty depressing album. Not going to lie. I didn't really intend on that happening...it's just sort of where it went. There was a young guy I worked with when I first started my 'day job' almost 10 years ago...He was one of those kids that was really a great kid - he'd just been dealt a crappy hand in life. He passed away about a year ago from a blood infection obtained from a dirty needle.

Many of these songs are either about him, or the realization for me that despite my best efforts, he still ended up hurting and in need of a friend. Did I fail as a youth worker? Maybe. But really, his situation was so much bigger than the both of us. I hope that where ever he is he's found the peace that eluded him here on Earth.
